FAQ on DriveHQ Cloud File Sharing
Answers
Q. Can I share files with non-DriveHQ users?
Top
Yes. DriveHQ offers the most powerful and flexible sharing engine.
A folder can be shared with anyone, including non-DriveHQ members, using a URL link to the shared folder.
You can send a share notification email to the users you share with.
A user can click the link in the email, and then verify the email address to access the shared folder.
After receiving a share notification email, a non-DriveHQ user can opt to sign up for a free account on DriveHQ.com.
The folders shared with him or her will automatically appear in the special virtual folder: \DriveHQShare\.
Q.How do I share folders with other DriveHQ users?
Top
To share folders with other DriveHQ users, please log in to your account. You can click "SHARE", and then click Share My Folder.
It goes to the "Select a Folder" page; a share can be created in only 2 steps easily. After selecting a folder,
you need to enter the users who you want to share with. You can enter their DriveHQ usernames or registered email addresses.
These users can log in to their own account, and access folders shared with them in the special virtual folder: \DriveHQShare\
Q.
How can I prevent users from changing files in a shared folder?

When creating a share and setting the Share options, select the permission level for your share.
You can specify different access privilegeds (Read-only, Upload and Full-access, etc) for different shares, allowing you to have a fine-granular control over the shared files and folders.
We have the following permission levels:
- No Access;
- File Icon / List / Thumbnail View Only;
- Preview Only;
- Download / Read-only;
- View Comment & Rates;
- Comment And Rate;
- Upload /add;
- Full Access;
Q. Can I invite someone to upload files into a folder in my account if they do not have a DriveHQ account?
Top
For security, users usually need to log in before they can upload files. Someone who does not have a DriveHQ account usually can't upload files to your account.
DriveHQ supports easy one-step registration.
Just click Sign Up Free on the home page.
But there are alternative solutions. One is to use a Guest Account, the other is to use a File Drop Box.
If you have a group account, you can create a sub-account for the non-member user.
You can then share a folder with the sub-user and assign upload or full-access right.
The non-member user can log in as the sub-user and access the shared folder in the special virtual folder:
"\DriveHQShare\YOUR_USERNAME\SHARE_NAME".
The other method is to use a File Drop Box,
which allows anybody to upload files to you securely without login or signup.
Q. How do I edit a Share I created?
Top
You can make changes to an existing (folder) Share or delete it. Just log in to your account, click "Share" and
then click Manage Shares. It goes to the "Share List" page.
Q. Is there a period of validity for the Share Link?
Top
By default, the Share Link does not expire automatically. But you can set an expiration time.
If you are not a DriveHQ member, you can sign up for a new account using your email
address. The shared folders will automatically appear in your "DriveHQShare" virtual folder.
Q. The Share Link is Not Working
Top
If your email program does open the web link correctly:
Some email programs introduce line wraps, which can cause broken URLs.
To correct the problem:
-
Highlight and copy the share link in the email.
-
Open Notepad from the Windows Accessories menu. Turn "Word Wrap" off.
-
Paste the link. Delete line wraps or spaces until the link is only in the first line.
-
Copy the entire line, then go back and paste this in your web browser address.
